Split Rock Stream Restoration
Cardinal teamed with Northern Kentucky University’s Center for Applied Ecology for this project involving the restoration of a stream and modification of an existing detention pond located in Wilder, Kentucky. The stream re-establishment/channel restoration took place through a demolition debris landfill. Restoration of 1,200 feet of perennial stream was completed in 2009. Joe’s Creek is a tributary to North Branch creek and was formerly piped and buried with demolition debris. In addition, the existing detention pond outlet was modified to create more storage volume since the existing configuration was being underutilized.
